Orelus to Sing at All-State Chorus Concert
Recognizing her superior vocal talent and dedication to music, senior Jessica Orelus has been selected to perform in this year’s All-State Mixed Chorus at the New York State School Music Association Winter Conference concert in Rochester, N.Y. in December.
“It is an extreme honor that Jessica has been selected to represent Deer Park High School’s music program at the NYSSMA Conference,” said her chorus teacher, Catherine Lubrano. “Students who attend this conference are strong, dedicated musical leaders of their schools all around the state, and we as a department are very proud of Jessica's accomplishment.”
“I’m very excited and blessed to have this opportunity,” said Orelus, who plans to study musical theater in college. “I’m grateful that the school is supporting me in taking on this amazing adventure.”
Orelus has displayed a multitude of artistic gifts, being involved in the chamber orchestra, the select choir, the chorus, and theater productions such as musicals, winter plays and the school’s One-Act Play Festival.
“She is extremely talented,” said Lubrano. “Not only is she an excellent singer, but she plays violin in our school's chamber orchestra as well as being an accomplished pianist. Jessica is heavily involved in all of the performing arts offered here in Deer Park.”
