The high school bowling season hasn’t begun yet, but junior Adam Zimmerman already has something to smile about. In July, Zimmerman proved to be the champion in the under-15 boys category at the North Pointe Junior Gold Championships.  To win, he defeated opponent Michael Schoerner, 377-350 and 387-274,  in back-to-back matches. More than 2,479 competitors participated in this major national youth bowling event held in the in Buffalo, N.Y area.

A member of Deer Park’s Section XI New York State championship team, Zimmerman is no stranger to success in the bowling alley. As a student-athlete, he has earned All-County status twice and was named to Newsday’s All-Long Island team this past spring. He bowled a county-high 31 match points last year while en route to improving from his freshman average of 215 to a county-leading 235.86 in 2013. Zimmerman has earned more than $33,000 in college scholarship funds through tournament competitions, $6,000 alone from the Junior Gold event. Zimmerman also won an opportunity to try out for Junior Team USA in January 2015 in Las Vegas.
