High school student-athletes Mike Isola and Kristy Vitucci were recently recognized as the winners of this year’s Suffolk Zone Awards, as selected by the school’s physical education staff.

The two seniors were honored by the Suffolk Zone Chapter of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance at a Dec. 3 dinner at the Hyatt Regency Long Island in Hauppauge, where they were accompanied by teachers Mike Gennaro and Brian Tower.

The Suffolk Zone Award is presented annually to one male and one female physical education student in that year’s graduating class, who contributed highly to the overall positive tone of their physical education classes as well as the school. Criteria for the award include earning an A average or above 90 in high school physical education classes, achieving an overall grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at the completion of junior year, demonstrating outstanding character and leadership qualities, and being a role model for good health and physical fitness.

“Our congratulations to Mike and Kristy, who have proven themselves as true physical education leaders,” said Athletic Director Dominick Fontana.
