For the third year in a row, high school students from the SADD Club, Gay-Straight Alliance, Student Council and Students Against Bullying Club learned valuable life skills while attending the Compassion Without Borders conference on April 1, held at Bay Shore High School.

While at the conference, more than 200 students from 25 different Suffolk County schools participated in student-run workshops regarding tolerance, compassion and friendship, and listened to a speech by guest speaker Dennard Mitchel.

“Mr. Mitchel’s focus was on overcoming adversities in life, making good choices and being successful,” said SADD adviser Janet Werner. “His blend of comedy and humor held the attention of all of the students in attendance.”
