The Robert Frost Middle School Band, directed by teacher Mike Livorno, won first place in the concert band category and earned a superior rating at the annual Music in the Parks festival competition, held on June 6 at Dorney Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The 76 select seventh- and eighth-grade student-musicians from Frost were judged by two adjudicators on two band pieces, “Wyndham Variations” by James Swearingen and Russian folk song “Meadowlands.”

“The competition judges were impressed with both the size of our group and the musicality they displayed at such a young age,” said Livorno.

Following their winning performance, the elated students spent the rest of the day enjoying Dorney Park.
