Clad in red, white and blue, students from kindergarten through second grade honored the 14th anniversary of Sept. 11 by planting American flags in front of May Moore and John Quincy Adams on Patriot Day. The ceremonies, including recitations of the Pledge of Allegiance, served to strengthen bonds of patriotism and citizenship.

“Although our students weren’t born when the events of 9/11 occurred, we feel it is important to honor the nearly 3,000 victims of those attacks and all those who risked their lives to save others,” said May Moore Principal Alicia Konecny. “Our PFC donated the flags for the children to plant around our school to show their patriotism for America and their respect for ordinary people who responded in extraordinary circumstances with acts of kindness and compassion.”
