Career Day for ninth-graders came to the high school on Oct. 14, hosted by the business education department. Freshmen had the opportunity to attend workshop talks in the cafeteria and gym, meeting in small rotating groups with different professionals to learn more about possible career choices.
Deer Park resident Stacy DeNoyior, vice president of sales at Broadridge Financial Solutions and chairperson for Broadridge’s Women’s Leadership Forum, was the event’s keynote speaker, presenting on “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens.”
Among the dozens of interesting presenters to discuss their jobs with the students were Keith Abramson, an attorney in the firm of Berkman, Henoch, Peterson, Peddy & Fenchel; Dr. Tyrone Bennett, a research engineer, educator, author and infrastructure technologist; Dr. Jermaine Archer, a history professor at SUNY Old Westbury; School of Rock music instructor Joel Camp; children’s author Linda Marie Frank; FDNY firefighter Mark Giannini; Quontic Bank mortgage loan officer Kimberly Hope; Jerilyn Marinan, director of career planning and development at SUNY Old Westbury; Babylon Town Clerk Carol Quirk; television cameraman Charles Rainone; orthodontic technician Christine Reilly of Vitagliano Orthodontics; Dr. Brian Stipelman, dean of the Dowling College School of Arts and Sciences; and athletic trainer and physical therapist Stacey Taradash.
