In recognition of Veterans Day, Jack Serra, Robert Frost eighth-grader solicited donations to make meals for local veterans at the Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center. With the help of members from the school’s National Junior Honor Society as well as two teachers, veteran John Heeg and NJHS adviser Seth Margolin, they made about 150 sandwiches, which were delivered on the evening of Nov. 10 to veterans at the Salvation Army Northport Veterans Residence. Each veteran received two sandwiches, chips, a donut and a drink.

“This was a great experience for me,” said Serra. “I’m glad I got to share it with some of my friends.”
