Students in teacher Jennifer Arella’s fourth-grade class at John F. Kennedy Intermediate chose to forgo their free art period on Dec. 22 to make “Snowflakes of Hope” for eight-year-old burn victim Safyre Terry of upstate Rotterdam. Terry, who lost her family in a 2013 house fire, had requested cards for Christmas this year, and received more than a million. The JFK class decided to make paper snowflakes in lieu of cards, with special messages written on each.
