Members of the high school’s newly formed Patriot Club joined forces with the school’s Students Against Destructive Decisions club to provide holiday gift bags for homeless veterans at the Veterans Place in Yaphank, a former motel that was converted to a shelter by Suffolk County United Veterans.
The 24 vets received an assortment of toiletries, an American flag and letters, as well as teddy bears that were hand-made by Patricia Skjoldahl’s classes at the district’s Robert Frost Middle School.
The Patriot Club was created this school year to acknowledge the efforts of military, fire and police personnel and the commendable job they do in serving the nation.
