Conscientious high school student Gregory Garrison chose to create a special autism awareness mural at May Moore Elementary School as his Eagle Scout project, aided by fellow Scouts. Garrison’s 7-year-old brother, Cole, has been in the school’s autism program since kindergarten.
The mural’s installation was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Jan. 25.
“I decided on this project because I wanted to spread autism awareness and let everyone know that the children in the autism program are an important part of the May Moore family and the community,” said Garrison, who was honored at a January Board of Education meeting.
