High school student-artists Regina Ambrosio and Kristina Console participated in this year’s All-County SCALA/BACCA Art Show Exhibition. Their work was displayed at Old Town Hall in Babylon from Jan. 21 through Feb. 9, and they were honored at an artist reception on Feb. 6, accompanied by teacher Derek Mainhart.

“The three pieces I created in Mr. Mainhart’s AP art class were based on human life and nature combined,” said Console. “Being in the SCALA art show was an amazing experience for a young artist like myself. Seeing artwork from talented kids in other communities inspired me to be better for future art shows to come.”

Ambrosio’s piece, “Dias de la Muertos,” was previously displayed at the Town of Babylon’ annual Hispanic Heritage Month Festival.

“My work depicts a contrast between a dark subject matter and my bright artistic approach, achieved through the use of pastel colors and minimal shading,” said Ambrosio. “The atmosphere at the SCALA All-County show was electrically inspiring, and it was fascinating to see the various works produced by my artistic peers from all over Long Island.”
