BACCA Bonanza for ‘Plaza Suite’

The high school’s dramatic production of “Plaza Suite,” directed by James Henry, was named Outstanding Play by the Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts and three student actors won Teen Theatre Awards for their performances. This year’s BACCA awards were bestowed by the Teen Theatre Committee on June 6 at Five Towns College Performing Arts Center in Dix Hills.

The three individual acting accolades went to Destiny Parsons for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play, Anthony Henkel for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Play, and Tori DiTomasso for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Play.

Also honored with nominations for their performances were Alex Lane for “Plaza Suite” and Joseph DeNoyior, Olivia Grizzle and Alec Winters for their work in the school’s musical, “The Wiz.”

Deer Park also won BACCA awards for student directors, assistant directors and producers, including Jivensley Alexis, Rachel Bauer, Alleigha Brady, Sam Colon, Samantha Connolly, Ryan Connors, Alexandra Costanza, Erica DeLuca, Averi Lacoff, Tamara Robinson, Kayla Ruiz, Catherine Taipe and Alec Winters.

Robert Frost Middle School students who participated as “Middle School Munchkins” in “The Wiz” received “Future Star” awards.
