Deer Park music students displayed their talent and hard work at this year’s Music in the Parks festival competitions in Pennsylvania, held in June.

For the high school, the chamber orchestra, wind ensemble, guitar ensemble and women’s choir walked away with top honors at the Music in the Parks event held at Hersheypark. The chamber orchestra and women’s choir also received awards for best overall high school orchestra and chorus, and Destiny Parsons received a medal for outstanding performance by a soloist.

The Robert Frost Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade band, performing under the direction of Michael Livorno, came in first place with an excellent rating at the Music in the Parks event at Dorney Park in Allentown. They also received the Esprit de Corps award, given to the group who effectively displays feelings of loyalty, enthusiasm and devotion to a group among people who are members of the ensemble.
