High school student Julianna Caputo, a rising junior, was recently honored by Gilda’s Club New York City for an essay she submitted about her mother's recovery from cancer. The organization, founded in 1995 and named in tribute to actress Gilda Radner, who died of ovarian cancer in 1989, provides free support to people living with cancer and their families and friends.

Although Julianna was not a finalist in the essay contest, her work was recognized at Gilda’s Club seventh annual teen essay contest reception, where she was awarded a certificate and four tickets to this year’s Summer Jam concert.
