Cindy Adriaenssens, a family and consumer science teacher at Robert Frost, was recently named Teacher of the Year by the Long Island Family and Consumer Science Professionals organization.

LIFACS is a subchapter of the New York State Association of Family and Consumer Science Educators, and was specifically designed to further the goals of family and consumer science education in New York.

Adriaenssens has taught in the Deer Park School District since 1997. She has planned and participated in numerous community events throughout her career, encouraging her students in service projects, and serves as adviser for Frost’s Fashion Club.

“Ms. Adriaenssens has a unique role in nurturing building culture,” said Heather Stewart, the district’s curriculum associate for secondary FACS and social studies. “She is willing to go beyond her professional duties in order to assist students and faculty.”
