A team of six Deer Park English as a new language teachers and District Administrator of ENL and World Languages Ashley Rosenberg were recently selected by the New York State Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages to present at the organization’s annual conference.

For the presentation, titled, “Creating Culturally Relevant and Globally Empathetic Lessons, K-12,” Rosenberg and teachers Marcella Biordi, Megan Boccard, Michelle Champlin, Kimberly Essig, Danielle Finocchiaro and Vanessa Pizzo compiled ideas and lessons they create to meet the needs of Deer Park'’ diverse English Language Learners. The seven educators were also given the opportunity to network with various ENL teachers and administrators from across the state.

“In addition to presenting information, we also had the opportunity to learn,” said Rosenberg. “Overall, presenting at the conference was a great opportunity and our team did wonderfully. I truly commend the teachers who took time out of their weekends to communicate their excellent ideas and lessons, which will benefit ELLs statewide.”
