The Deer Park Arts Council will host its season kickoff event on Tuesday, Oct. 16. The community is invited to attend an evening of performances and exhibits, which will feature the talented student and staff musicians and artists of Deer Park.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium, a variety of festivities will take place, including a keynote address by Roger Tilles, member of the Board of Regents for Long Island. Selected students will be honored with the induction of new Tri-M Music Honor Society members and the highly anticipated announcement of the musical for 2013, which will be accompanied by a special preview performance.

Faculty members will showcase their fine and performing arts prowess with a concert by the faculty jazz band and a display of artwork created by the art faculty. Finally, Arts Council members will provide an overview of what the council has done and what it plans to do in the future.
