The Dark Falcons high school pumpkin chucking team won second place in the youth division at the Extreme Chunkin competition held this autumn in New Hampshire, tossing the orange gourds with their own trebuchet designed using skilled knowledge of physics. Accompanied by their families, three members of the team made the long trip to participate in the event.

“Four of my former student team members from five years ago also came with us on the trip,” said Deer Park technology teacher and Dark Falcons coach Bruce Sander. “They were my students and members of the first team of seventh-graders when we built our original trebuchet.”
