An Operation of Heart
Robert Frost Middle School students responded to the call for help this holiday season by launching Operation Shoebox. This community service project benefited Babylon residents who were adversely affected by Superstorm Sandy and was done in partnership with the local organization Neighbors Helping Neighbors Babylon.
Led by teacher Lindsay Baudier, students selected the gender and age of a person in need and filled a shoebox with respective items that may bring some cheer and help fulfill life’s necessities. Students got creative and festively decorated boxes, which contained small toys, toiletries, warm socks, puzzles and crayons. Each box was accompanied by personal messages of encouragement and tagged for recipients. All of the boxes will be delivered to families in Babylon during the holiday season.
