New York State's Property Tax Cap: Citizen's Guide

As you know, New York State recently enacted it’s first-ever cap on the annual growth in local government and school district tax levies. While the tax cap is essentially a simple concept, based on a successful tax limitation in neighboring Massachusetts, the first stages of the implementation process in many communities has inevitably raised many questions about how the law is supposed to work.

"New York State's Property Tax Cap:  Citizen's Guide" is designed to answer those questions in a short, easy-to-understand format. The booklet includes a summary description of the cap, answers to frequently asked questions and the full text of the tax cap law itself.

The Citizen's Guide is posted at the Empire Center for New York State Policy website at www.EmpireCenter.org.
