Facility Rules

New *Silly BANDZ are not allowed to be worn in our pools, they are known to be easily entangled in the filter system.  Please secure them with other belongings in a locker or leave them at home when you plan to visit the pool for programs or public swimming.

Swimmers must show a valid membership card, or present ID with payment of a daily usage fee and be signed in at the guard station. Preferred forms of ID are: driver's licenses, Deer Park library cards, and school ID cards showing grade level for students age 13 and over. Patrons will not be permitted into the pool building outside of the advertised public swim and swim program schedules.

 

A responsible adult who will supervise behavior on deck and in the locker areas must accompany children under age 13. Any child who requires assistance in the water must be accompanied IN THE WATER by an adult. Please use discretion when having a child use an opposite sex locker area. Management of this facility recommends that boys and girls aged 6 and over use the appropriate locker area. Changing outside the locker rooms is not acceptable. Parents MUST NOT enter the opposite sex locker room to assist their children. Please review locker room manners at home.

 

Proper bathing attire is required; bathing suits, rash guards, board shorts, NOT cut off shorts, tee shirts or other regular clothing. Bathing caps and goggles are optional. Masks that cover the nose are not allowed during lessons because they prohibit correct breathing technique. 

The New York State Department of Health recommends a cleansing shower prior to the use of any public bathing facility. *Showering with soap and fresh water can help to lessen the drying effects of chlorine on hair and sensitive skin.

Pollution of the pool by any bodily fluids is strictly prohibited. Nose blowing and expectorating while in the pool is not allowed.

 

There is NO SMOKING allowed on any school grounds.

Any patron who appears to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be asked to leave the facility. 

All food and drink are prohibited from the entire pool area. (Health Department Sanitary code) Water in plastic bottles is allowed. Please dispose of containers properly.

 

General safety rules are in effect at all times, including

No Running anywhere in the building.

No Diving in shallow water

No loud voices

No outdoor type rough play

Lap lanes are for lap swimming ONLY. Please match your speed with others in the lane and observe a circle-swimming pattern (stay to the right in the lane).

Please respect the directions of the lifeguards. Use of pool toys and equipment will be allowed at the discretion of the supervising lifeguard on duty. Priority for use of equipment and pool space will be given to scheduled programs.  

Children under age 13, especially those using floatation devices, may be restricted to shallow water areas at the discretion of the lifeguard on duty.

Hyperventilation, extreme hypoxic training and static apnea at NOT ALLOWED at this facility. Failure to comply with this rule will result in expulsion from the facility.

 Diving Boards
 
The low (1 meter) diving board will be available for public use when a lifeguard is posted at the dive tank.

Please DO NOT wear goggles for head first diving.

The board will be off limits at the discretion of the supervising lifeguard on duty.

 Specific rules for use of the diving area are:

One at a time on the diving board, including the ladder.

Absolutely no running on the diving board or deck.

Multiple bounces are not allowed.

No swimming in the diving tank .

Swim directly to the ladder to exit the dive tank.

Group use, including birthday parties and scout group outings must be scheduled in advance with the Aquatic Director to avoid overcrowding, ensure completion of appropriate forms and to allow us to contact you in the event of emergency closure of the facility.
