Deer Park Celebrates Outstanding Student Musicians at Annual Music Awards

The district held its annual Music Awards ceremony last month, honoring student musicians who had earned awards from the Long Island String Festival Association, New York State Council of Administrators of Music Education, New York State School Music Association and Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association.
The evening also showcased the district’s exemplary performing groups, featuring pieces by the May Moore Primary School Theater Club, Robert Frost Middle School’s chamber orchestra and concert choir, and Deer Park High School’s jazz ensemble, Phoenix Club, select choir, chamber orchestra and wind ensemble.
“This year, we had over 200 students attend the NYSSMA evaluations, which is an incredible achievement,” Fine and Performing Arts Director Bradley Murphy said. “We are so proud of Deer Park being named one of NAMM’s 2026 Best Communities for Music Education, and this night certainly illustrated exactly what kind of community we have with regard to music education – a truly great one.
