Deer Park Triple Jumper Kayla Beaumont Ranks Second in State

Deer Park High School triple jump athlete Kayla Beaumont, who graduated in June, capped off a remarkable season with the second-best mark in New York State, county and section championships, All-State and All-American recognition, and Deer Park’s indoor and outdoor triple jump school records. These accomplishments are even more impressive considering she underwent total reconstructive knee surgery less than two years ago.
At the Section XI triple jump championship, Beaumont jumped 40 feet, 8.5 inches to extend her own school record. She also recorded a personal best 17 feet, 6.5 inches in the long jump, finishing fourth overall in Section 11.
Beaumont then made her third trip to the state championship, held at Webster Schroeder High School in Rochester, where she concluded her Falcons career with a second-place finish in New York State and fourth overall in the federation, earning All-State honors.
She wrapped up her season at the New Balance Nationals in Philadelphia, where she soared 41 feet, 2.25 inches to place third and earn All-American recognition.
“It’s an amazing end to one of the most inspiring stories to come out of Deer Park athletics,” coach James Petti said. “Kayla will go down as one of the most successful athletes in Deer Park history. While records are meant to be broken, hers will stay for a long time.”
