Deer Park recognized administrators, teachers and staff members for their decades of dedicated service as well as retirees and tenure recipients at the May 28 Board of Education meeting.
“A great district is never built in a single year or by a single person,” Superintendent James Cummings said. “It is built over generations by educators who dedicate their hearts to children, who believe every student matters and who leave each classroom in a school building better than they found it. Tonight we honor those whose careers created a lasting legacy, and we welcome those who now begin the extraordinary responsibility and privilege of shaping the future.”
“We are gathered here tonight to celebrate the heart and soul of our school district –
our people,” Board of Education President Donna Marie Elliott said. “To our 25- and 30-year service recipients: Thank you for your unwavering commitment and devotion to the mission of Deer Park schools. You guide countless students, support your colleagues and help shape the foundation of our school community. Your consistency and passion are the gears that keep our schools running smoothly, day in and day out. To our retirees: All of you leave behind a legacy measured not in test scores or administrative tasks, but in the lives you have changed and the futures you help build. Thank you for all that you have given to our beautiful students as you have placed stepping stones on their path for them to succeed. No matter what your position has been within this district, know that each of you had a vital role in making Deer Park School District what it is today. May you be proud of the work that you have done, the person that you are and the difference that you have made in our school community. May the wind be always at your back, may love and happiness fill your heart and may your fondest dreams come true in your retirement and thereafter. We will never, ever forget you.”
