Guided by teachers Laurie Schwartz and Ashley Woolsey, members of Deer Park High School’s mural painting class returned to Cedar Beach on April 29 for the second phase of the mural project. The eager students completed three murals in one day, painting the other side of the tunnels under Ocean Parkway, connecting the Cedar Beach Marina to Cedar Beach.

The project was organized by Ron Becker of Deer Park Arts Council and sponsored by the Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts. As with the first phase last October, BACCA and the Town of Babylon invited student-artists from each school district to create and paint outdoor murals at Cedar Beach. 

BACCA held a mural unveiling ceremony on May 21, which included recognition of the students, teachers and the schools involved in the project.
