After over a year of changes and obstacles due to the pandemic, the students of Deer Park recently celebrated their determination and achievement in a stirring series of moving up ceremonies, many held outdoors. These milestones were honored at JQA on June 7, May Moore on June 8, JFK on June 14 and 15, and Robert Frost on June 17.

“The second-grade moving up ceremony is one of my favorite events of the year and met with plenty of emotions,” said JQA Principal Christopher Molinelli. “Watching these young boys and girls grow and blossom over the past few years is quite amazing. Everyone at JQA couldn’t be prouder of our graduates and we will miss them all. We’re looking forward to hearing about all of the great things they will do in their future.”

“We are all so proud of what these second graders achieved this year,” said May Moore Principal Philip Paniccia. “Whether it was virtual, hybrid, or in-person, our students showed up every day and didn’t let any obstacle stand in their way. They’re a truly courageous bunch and we will miss them at May Moore.”

“I want to thank the parents and community for their continued support during this school year,” said JFK Principal Kelly Benson. “This year would not have been possible without them. They demonstrated flexibility, patience and understanding in a year filled with changes, and we were happy to be able to hold an in-person moving up ceremony.”

“We were thrilled to be able to celebrate our eighth graders in person,” said Frost Principal Eliana Levey. “After the past 15 months, it was wonderful to be able to have a moving up ceremony. The smiles on the faces of the students and parents were evidence that they were excited, too. Our students deserved this recognition for all that they've endured. It was a celebration of their determination and spirit.”
