Fifth graders at John F. Kennedy Intermediate School experienced the school’s annual Career Day on Jan. 26, featuring in-person volunteers from a wide range of professions such as digital entrepreneurs, lawyers, financial advisers, doctors, nurses, police officers, firefighters, architects, DJs and representatives from the New York State Department of Agriculture. Most of the volunteers who participated, providing insights into what their jobs entail, were former Deer Park students.

“This is always a wonderful day for our JFK students,” Principal Kelly Benson said. “It was nice that students were able to see people who graduated from Deer Park and learn what they were able to become by following their passions. We can’t thank the community members and volunteers enough, because without them, this event would not be possible. We also have a group of teachers that work extremely hard each year to put this event together. Nina Ragone, Brittany Grosse, Kathryn DeRoss, Ashley Maune and Marybeth Ingram went above and beyond to pull this event off.
